House UPDATE!

Our move-in date is quickly approaching! Eric, Jack and I drive by and walk through our house on a sometimes daily basis. It's so much fun to track the milestones. This week: we have a garage door, a roof, siding, and shutters!

{Our soon-to-be living room...fireplace is installed!}

It still doesn't feel real, even though our target move-in date is a few weeks away! Now my decorator wheels are turning. I want to paint the kitchen a bold color. We're going to order our furniture for the whole house soon. I can't wait to put it all together!

I'm planning to try a new decorating style...my current style is very country chic. I want to move more towards contemporary, but I still want it comfortable. We'll see what I come up with. :) Any suggestions from experts will be gladly accepted!

Oh, and blinds or shades? Who knew it would be so hard to decide what kind of window treatments we want?! We have a ton of windows - which I love! But, that's a lot of decisions for me to make! Cellular, wood blinds, or both?! Again...suggestions?

The crazy thing is I am actually looking forward to packing. I love to organize. I can't wait to pack my perfectly organized little life and move it to our forever home...well for now anyway. Waukee, here we come! =)

Happy Jack!

These pictures will probably be some of my favorite pictures of our little man....ever.
I figured out if I attach little rings to his gym so that he can bat at them he's happy! It's been so fun to set him down and just watch him play. This was one of the first days where just looking at me made him smile. It melts my heart every time...

Waiting for Baby

Nine months of growing and changing. A crisp, new bookshelf nearly empty holds What to Expect When You're Expecting. A to-do list that seems never ending.

Waiting for baby.

An empty nursery that has been shuffled to perfection time and time again. Five jars of pickles...gone. Pampers, Johnson's baby lotion, and cuddly blankets.

Waiting for baby.

Maternity clothes shopping mixed with caramel popcorn cravings. Sub plan piles compliment the paper clips no longer reachable on the floor. Flat shoes and ponytails.

Waiting for baby.

Doctor appointment and heart rate and contraction monitors. Tender moments between husband and wife; pushing for hours.

Waiting for baby.

It's a boy! Crazed rush in a tiny hospital room. A first kiss and whisper of "I love you" exchanged from a mom to her brand new baby.

A love that's undefinable.
A baby who is more than perfect.
A new little family is complete.
No longer left...
Waiting for baby.

Like Father, Like Son

Long before we knew our bouncing, crying, smiling little Jackson, Eric and I dreamed about what he would be like. Who would he look like? What will his little toes be like? What color of hair will he have? Will he be a tiny little thing or a gigantic monster?

Well, now Jackson is here...and it's clear he's his daddy's son! Other than my nose, I'm pretty sure Jack is a spitting image of Eric.

Take a look...

Mommy at as a baby (3 months):
Yes, that's me! Happy as can be...and gigantic. I can't believe I'm only three months old here...I look HUGE! My hair went from almost black to this blonde/reddish color.

Daddy as a baby (2 months):
Eric, to this day, is nicknamed "The Biz" because of his eyebrows. When he's talking business, whether it is money or mortgages, Eric is focused. So focused that his eyebrows do some crazy things! Look at his scowl as a wee little one.
Baby Jack, or should we say Baby Biz? =)
The first moment I saw Jack in the hospital plopped on my stomach he was making this face! I wonder where he got it from?!

I quick took this picture after Eric said "I don't think he looks like me at all!" I asked him to pull up a picture...and this is what we got.

My dreams came true, little one, the day you arrived. I'm so glad that each time I look at you I get a glimpse of the man I love. Those amazingly long eyelashes that I crossed my fingers you would have melt my heart each time you bat them at me. Your scowl makes me laugh out loud, even in a crowded mall elevator. I'm happy that you look like your daddy. I'm happy that you're you.

I love you more everyday.

Love,
Mom

Jack is 2 Months Old!

Happy 2 month birthday, Jackson!

Milestones:
  • Jack smiles =)
  • Jack sleeps through the night! It's been about two weeks now {crossing fingers}. We put him down between 8:30 and 9, and he wakes up like clock work at 5:30 am! Eric and I are loving the sleep we're able to get now.
  • Jack is able to hold his head up almost all the time! He looks so much older now that he's not curled into us when we hold him.
  • Our big man had his first shots. He took them like a champ! He also weighs 13.3 pounds, and is over 23 inches tall. He's now on medicine for reflux - guess it wasn't the formula's fault after all! He's feeling much better. It tastes like peppermint, so now we have a baby with fresh breath!
{After his shots! Look at all the band-aids!}
{Jammie Photo Shoot}
{Clean baby! Check it out, he's got daddy's eyelashes...yes!}
{I'm a big boy now!}
Dear Big Man,

As you curl your little fingers around mine, I realize all that I love about you.

Thank you for making our lives complete. Thank you for showing me a side of daddy that I never knew before. Thank you for your gigantic smiles, your squishy face when you're working on a #2, and your cuddles after a long night of sleep.

I love that you look like a baby version of Eric. I love your grunts and coos as you figure out your voice. I love that you take a little breather after a long stretch of nursing, as you grab onto my shirt and smile.

I am proud to be your mom. I am more in love with your dad than ever before. And, I can't even think about what life was like without you.

I love you, big man.

Girls Night Out!

Eric and Jack spent some quality time, while I headed back home for a much needed night out with the girls to celebrate our birthdays!

Bre, Lex, and I have birthdays all within a week of each other; we always do something to celebrate together! This was the first time I'd be going out without Jack. I knew it would be best for me to go back home, rather than have the girls come to DSM, so that way I couldn't even think about going home! It was hard but it was worth it! And, I was back with Jack in my arms by 9 am Sunday morning!

We started at Carlos in CF, just like the good ol' days in college...

We laughed SO hard we all cried. It was definitely a gut workout! We also scared all of our eating neighbors away...you can only imagine why. What we all realized? We are OLD! Our conversations that used to be about the best outfits to the cutest boys have completely changed! We talked about bodily functions, careers, heartburn, and my boobs getting bigger as the night went on... all things OLD people talk about :)
We ended our night out on Main St., stopping by Toads, Pump Haus, Vodoo, and we danced the rest of the night away at Jokers! Thank you girls for another great birthday celebration. And, most importantly a great first night out after baby!

Oh, and I came home to this =):

Time to Celebrate!

A waking baby cooed; my alarm clock buzzed. Another day in the life of a working mom.

I woke up into my normal routine of feeding and cuddling with Jack before the crazed attempt-to-get-out-of-the-door at a decent time stunt that Eric and I perform each morning. I was on my way to pack my lunch when something caught my eye. On the table was a perfectly wrapped present and card; a few Pandora charms and a simply stated birthday card that read "Happy Birthday From Us".

What a wonderful present to start off my day; my 25th birthday.

Then, I walked into school. My door had a gigantic pink sign that read "Happy Birthday Mrs. Krieger!" That was just the beginning! I had signs, posters, treats, presents, and words of thanks all over my classroom from some of my amazing kiddos! They made me feel so special. A few hours later, I was greeted with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Eric and Jack! :)

After school, Eric and I went to dinner. After an hour wait, Jack still slept peacefully next to us as we enjoyed our dinner together. Eric ordered a big, juicy steak and I indulged in an amazing Strawberry Mango Sangria. MMMmmmm. We chit-chatted about the good ol' days, oodled over our amazingly perfect baby, and dreamed about days to come. It was a much needed night out - even with Jack!

I cuddled with my big man, my amazing hubby, and soaked in the last moments of my birthday. I'm officially a quarter of a century old...and I'm absolutely where I thought I'd be. I love Eric, Jack, my job, my friends, and my life. I am blessed.
