Eric and I have been together for 9 years now...and he's yet to take a week's vacation! He's a hard worker - or 'workaholic' as I like to call him.
Well, this year he was forced to take a whole week of his vacation days all together. So...we went on one of our first and only vacations together to St. Louis and Kansas City, MO.
It was my job to book the hotel...a feat I'm definitely not used to. I thought...the cheaper the hotel, the more we can spend on our little getaway. Lesson learned. We pulled up to the Days Inn, which on the internet looked like a palace. It was dog friendly, had an indoor pool, and continental breakfast...all of the things we were looking for. OH man was the website picture false advertising! There were about 30 weirdos waiting outside the doors, just hanging out. Then we noticed, you enter into your rooms from the outside - creepy. We held our heads high and went into the front desk - minus any air conditioning. We continued to book our room....assuming it would get better. We walk in to a bright green and yellow disgusting pit of a hotel room - brown suede couch with stains and all! So...we convinced them to cancel our room - and sped all the way to Comfort Inn and Suites! Ah...now this is what vacation is supposed to be like!
We ended up trying out lots of local restaurants and shopping! We also went to the Gateway Arch, St. Louis Zoo, Union Station, The 'loop', and the famous Pappy's Smokehouse that was featured on Man VS. Food.
It was over 100 degrees with high humidity both days of our little explorations...so hair in a ponytail and tank tops were the attire of choice! And, that was a wise decision :)
Oh, and the word "Restroom" holds a whole new meaning...it's spells RELIEF on a hot walk around the Zoo! Except, they weren't air conditioned! Talk about sticky!!
We had a great time chatting together, shopping, touring, and visiting Josh and Terra, too! It was such a nice little getaway together.
I love you, Eric. Thanks for being the best husband and soon-to-be dad, ever! :)
